The City of Edmond’s Art in Public Places Program have nurtured few hundred pieces for sale since the beginning of its program in 2001 raising the appealing look of the community. Art displayed in public places, parks and residential places attract tourism and enterprises to take part in the program.
“It’s a good investment because we actively recruit high-end business to this city,” said Randel Shadid, former city councilman and former mayor. He added, “I don’t think anybody can dispute that it significantly raises the aesthetic look of a community. And I really think personally, when people see those, it has a way of kind of lowering your blood pressure 10 or 20 points because it’s a relaxing thing. It gets your mind off problems of the day.”
