Trump signed the American Artificial Intelligence Initiative

After the revelation during July of 2017 by China to become the world leader in Artificial Intelligence by 2030, numerous steps are being taken by the United States trying to stay ahead of this competition. The President of the United States, Donald Trump signed an executive order for establishing the American AI Initiative on February 11.

Where China got instant investments for its AI effort, the tech giants in the United States are backing down from their work in the AI program as they believe that it is going to put users’ trust at danger. Unfortunately, this drawback is working as a favor for China as the investments in their AI project is paying dividends and is growing at a rapid pace. But President Trump is making sure to give supreme importance to the research and development in Artificial Intelligence despite it carrying the risks. The development of this program is believed to protect American values and maintain national security.

To promote and protect American interests, the executive order for American Artificial Intelligence scheme sums up the major areas that includes R&D for technological breakthrough, ethical standards and governance, training programs to instil skills to take full advantage of AI, cybersecurity, protecting economic and national safety on the back of developing international standards for the same.
