Are Nutrients in Wheatgrass really worth the Hype?

Over the years wheatgrass has gained popularity among people especially the health enthusiasts. Based on the results, wheatgrass is supposed to have numerous health benefits that are believed to keep many medical conditions at bay while keeping the person healthy and fit. Apart from strengthening the immune system, wheatgrass is also considered for detoxification and treating constipation. Some scientific studies on the intake of wheatgrass juice have shown a positive impact on increasing hemoglobin levels.

Also known with a scientific name-thinopyrum intermedium, wheatgrass is prepared from young grass blades of wheat plant that can be grown both indoors and outdoors. Where most of the people like to consume it in powdered form, there are others who like to make fresh juice out of wheatgrass by harvesting it themselves. Comprising of antioxidants, wheatgrass is a natural source of potassium, calcium, fiber, vitamins such as A, E, C, K, B6 and iron among other proteins and minerals.

Despite the absence of enough scientific evidence regarding wheatgrass curing a particular disease or that it can help in preventing any specified disorder, there are indeed some therapeutic benefits to it that are driving a large number of people towards consuming it on regular basis.
