The star of the American television soap opera ‘The Young and the Restless’ that played Neil Winters, Kristoff St. John was found dead on February 3, 2019 in his home in Woodland Hills. Earlier in January, he was treated for depression at the UCLA Medical Center and in the previous year, he was placed under a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation after he threatened to kill himself by holding a gun to his head.
The two time Emmy award winner dealt with emotional pain for all the years after he lost his son in November 2014. His son Julian who was 24-years old at the time of his death committed suicide while he was being treated for depression. It inspired Kristoff and his ex-wife Mia St. John to start a foundation named ‘El Saber es Poder’ meaning ‘Knowledge is Power’ to help people with mental illness.
In a statement released by the CBS and Sony Pictures Television on the demise of Kristoff St. John, they described the actor as immensely talented who was loved by his colleagues and fans. Condoling his death on Twitter, a lot of his fans and co-starts posted their pictures with him online and expressed their grief for the loss.
Pronounced dead on the scene, his body was discovered inside his home in the Woodland Hills area of L.A. The cause of his death is not yet ascertained. People close to him believe that he committed suicide as he was unable to cope up with the death of his son Julian whereas, according to a LAPD official, no foul play was suspected and alcohol overdose might be the reason behind his death.
