Latin America Is Ready To Agree World’s First Legal Agreement For Nature Defenders

Latin American countries are poised to settle the world’s first legally mandatory convention to safeguard environmental defenders at a conference in Costa Rica. Land protestors and native people were murdered in record numbers on the continent previous year, with more than two nature defenders killed every week.

Currently, after two years of conciliation, UN and diplomatic sources mentions it is very likely than an environmental democracy treaty proposing them legal protection will be settled at the summit which closes on 4 March.
